Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-06-16. Plain English. UK GDPR compliant.

1. Who we are

Sean Hamilton trading as Lockerfella Locksmith, of Brewood, Staffordshire ST19 9HR, United Kingdom. Sean Hamilton is the data controller. Contact: 07386 341725, sean@lockerfella.co.uk.

2. What information we collect

  • Contact details given when you call, WhatsApp, email or use the contact form: name, phone, email, address or location of the job, and a description of the issue.
  • Job records: date, work done, parts supplied, price paid.
  • Photographs of damage or completed work where relevant (with your permission).
  • Standard server logs from the website host (IP address, browser type, request path, time) for security and abuse prevention. Retained briefly by the host and not used for marketing.

3. How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiry and arrange the call-out.
  • To carry out the locksmith service you've asked for.
  • To take payment and issue a receipt or invoice.
  • To keep tax and accounting records (legal obligation).
  • To handle complaints, warranty claims and insurance matters.

4. Lawful basis (UK GDPR Article 6)

  • Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): to provide the service you've asked for.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): to keep tax and accounting records (HMRC requires retention for at least 6 years).
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): to respond to enquiries, defend against complaints, and run the business.

5. Who we share information with

Nobody, except where required: HMRC and accountants for tax records; insurers if a claim arises; payment providers when you pay by card; the website host (365i, on the 20i hosting platform); and Google, when you use the contact form, for spam protection only (see section 7).

We also use ipwho.is, an IP-geolocation service. When you browse the site your browser contacts ipwho.is to estimate the town you are in, so we can show a friendlier on-page message. We do not send them your name or contact details, and we do not store your IP address (see section 7).

6. How long we keep your data

  • Job and customer records: 6 years after the work is completed (HMRC minimum) and up to 7 years for insurance and liability purposes.
  • Contact-form enquiries that don't lead to a job: deleted within 12 months.
  • Website analytics: not in use. No visitor analytics are collected or retained.

7. Cookies, tracking and spam protection

The site uses no visitor analytics, no advertising cookies, and no behavioural tracking. There is no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, and no Cloudflare Insights. No pop-up cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. If that ever changes, this section will be updated.

We show a small "before you go" message that guesses your town. To do this your browser asks the location service named above to estimate your town from your internet connection, and we keep a little information in your browser's local storage (your estimated town and when the message was last shown) so we do not ask repeatedly or show the message too often. This is not advertising, it sets no tracking cookies, and we do not store your IP address. You can dismiss the message and it will not show again for 24 hours, and clearing your browser data removes what is stored.

Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form. The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which is used to tell humans and bots apart so we can stop spam. When you interact with the form, Google may collect hardware and software information (such as device and application data, browser type, IP address, and cookie data) and analyse it to score the request. Lockerfella never sees this data; only the score. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. The reCAPTCHA script is loaded only when you start interacting with the form, not on every page view.

8. Your rights under UK GDPR

  • Access (request a copy of your data)
  • Rectification (correct inaccurate data)
  • Erasure (ask for your data to be deleted, subject to legal retention)
  • Restriction (limit processing)
  • Object (object to processing based on legitimate interests)
  • Portability (receive your data in a usable format)

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details above. We will respond within one calendar month.

9. Complaints to the ICO

You have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.

10. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data: HTTPS on the site, secure email, locked storage of paper records.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy was last updated on 2026-06-16. Material changes will be flagged on the site.

Privacy questions

Plain-English answers to the most common questions about how we handle your data.

What information do you collect about me?

Only what I need to do the job: your name, contact details, the address of the work, and a description of the issue. Plus standard payment / receipt records once the job is done.

How long do you keep my details?

Job and customer records are kept for 6 years (HMRC minimum for tax records) and up to 7 years for insurance purposes. Contact-form enquiries that don't lead to a job are deleted within 12 months.

Do you share my information with anyone?

Only when I have to: HMRC for tax records, accountants, insurers if a claim arises, and the payment provider when you pay by card. I never sell or rent your data.

Does the website use cookies?

The site uses no visitor analytics, no advertising cookies, and no behavioural tracking. There's no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no Cloudflare Insights. No pop-up cookie banner because there's nothing to consent to.

How do I ask for my data to be deleted?

Email or phone using the contact details on the site. I'll respond within one calendar month (UK GDPR rules). Note that some records have to be kept for tax purposes even if you ask for deletion.

Honest reviews mean the next person locked out at 2am calls a real locksmith, not a call centre.

One for the road?

Ask the padlock a daft question before you go. Finish "Could Lockerfella...?" and let it decide. The answer's always yes.
